You might not eat them, but hard hats have something in common with food. Hard hats have an expiry date. But where do you find the expiration date on your hard hat, and why does it matter? To check the expiry date, you need to know where to find it, so let's start with that. Where can you find the hard hat expiry date? It will be transported from the manufacturer to the supplier, and probably spend some time in storage before being used for the first time. So the maximum time you could use a hard hat would be from the time you purchase it, up to the expiry date or until it is damaged, whichever comes sooner. For example, if a hard hat has a 5-year expiry date from the manufacturer, but it's in storage for the first 6 months, then you will have a maximum of 4.5 years of use.
